Tom began his career as an Instrument Engineer for Foster Wheeler Energy Corp. Then followed a succession of contract engineering positions with IBM in Manassas, VA (Semiconductor Plant Layout), IBM in Dayton, NJ (Factory Automation – Robotic Workcell Design), Bell Aerospace in Niagara Falls, NY (High Tolerance Instrument Design), IBM in Fishkill, NY (Automated Test Equipment – Robotic Workcell Design), IBM in Austin, TX (Factory Automation – Robotic Systems Design). Subsequent contracts with IBM – Austin and many others allowed Tom to further develop engineering design and build skills in manufacturing automation, machine design, tool design, product design and test equipment design. In May of 1994, Tom and Tony Ornelas founded Concurrent Design. The intervening years have seen in excess of 1400 product development and manufacturing system projects for many industries and clients as detailed throughout this brochure.
